It's The Most Wonderful Day of the Year! The Academy Awards!! i've seen most of the nominated films this year. As usual, my faves aren't favored to win - so I had to use my head when I filled out my ballot. Why doesn't George Clooney's date (sarah larson) look better?? Anyway, Best Actress is a tough category for me! The betting sites say Julie Christie. Ben Lyons from E! just said that Marion Cottilard was going to win, but I think there's buzz around Ellen Page, too! And Juno won't win Best Picture even tho everyone loved it. So my thinking is that the Academy voters will choose her so that Juno gets an award. Everyone says "No Country For Old Men" will win Best Picture but I liked "There Will Be Blood" SO much better! Argh. I would love to see something like "Michael Clayton" come out of nowhere and win. I'm going to choose "There Will Be Blood." Fingers crossed!
Daniel Day-Lewis is a shoo in for Best Actor. Same for Javier Bardem for Supporting Actor. I would so love to see Hal Holbrook win, tho. I'm still sad that "Into The Wild" wasn't nominated for more. I loved that movie. My favorite of the year, easily. Another movie I really liked was "Gone Baby Gone" and I thought Amy Ryan was BRILLIANT in it. I'm going with my heart and choosing her tonight, altho it seems as though most predictions have Cate Blanchett winning for Best Supporting. I hope the Coen Brothers take Best Director.
Seriously, Clooney's girlfriend isn't really even very cute! For GEORGE CLOONEY!
I'll be updating as the night goes on!
Craig and I got to go see Bon Jovi this weekend! Not only did we see them - we sat in an amazing luxury box at the United Center as guests of Betsy Flounders at People Magazine. What a fun night! Bon Jovi was really fun, Daughtry was good, too. You know I love me some Chris Daughtry! Ever since he and I shared our moment at LAX in McDonalds I have been smitten.
Anyway, I got to talk about The Grammy's alot so that was fun for me! Just when "real life" was finally settling in I got to gossip and gab about our amazing trip.
Betsy sent us home with a bottle of Jack Daniels that she put in my purse. lol Hey, we had a few drinks (and car service)!! Well, leave it to me to slip on a patch of ice and crush the bottle in my purse. Totally ruined my fave everyday Coach purse! lol Oh well, it went out in a blaze of glory. (ooh, Bon Jovi song)
Anne Hathaway - another one I don't get. Oooh - celebrity boyfriend alert! James McAvoy! I love him. Oh, Taupe has arrived! Jennifer Garner. My favorite gossip Laineygossip.com calls Jennifer Garner "Taupe." Her definition is, "pretty but bland. Which is fine enough for a civilian … but Taupe in showbiz…why should I care?"
Love it!
Oh Lord, Daniel Day-Lewis and his wife look ridiculous. I hate Ryan Seacrest's tux. Ooh I love Keri Russell!! I still think she should have been nominated for "Waitress." How can Clooney be SO hot? Jessica Alba looks beautiful even tho she's not my fave. My girl Mylie! She's super cute, I think. Altho I have to admit I'm biased since she was our red carpet partner at The Grammy's.
Oh, poor Puffy. Such a has-been. Weird about Gary Busey and Ryan Seacrest?! He totally freaked Taupe out! She looks really pretty tonight, tho. I love her bracelets. OMG, Marion Cotillard looks so glam! Can I just reiterate that I love Keri Russell. I love Helen Mirren but I didn't love her dress. I think the color was wrong. I liked the sleeves. Cameron Diaz looked like Cameron Diaz, which is great. I love her blonde. (ETA: The pics I've seen of Cam are awful. That dress was so ill-fitting and unflattering!)
For those of you with HD. Regarding John Travolta - wtf?? Does he think we can't see that his hair is painted on or something?! It almost looks waxy. And his make-up? Gross.
My favorite dresses of the night so far: Marion Cotillard and Jennifer Garner! I really love that black dress and think it's perfect for a presenter.
Show time! Wish me luck on my choices. Well, unless you have picks of your own. Then I say, stay true to yourself! lol
End of the evening thoughts: I hate Zellwegger. Seriously, why did she keep walking like that with her head down? I heard she's lovin' the ladies lately...? I thought Marion was the hit of the night. Loved everything about her. Loved her speech. LOVE!
Oh and...just for the record....I hated "No Country For Old Men." lol
