Page Six is reporting that Ben Stiller's hilarious Oscar impersonation of Joaquin Phoenix was the result of a "meltdown at rehearsal on Saturday because he was unhappy with the script and decided he could do better." An insider claims, "Ben refused to tell them what he planned until he arrived at the Kodak Theaters and then he did that Joaquin Phoenix bit."
It should be noted that Stiller's Phoenix spoof was the 2nd of the weekend. Director Frank Coraci did it the day before the Oscars at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Kinda makes Stiller's bit less funny, doesn't it?
