Speed Racer Tanks; Indy Not Promising

Well, "Speed Racer" has officially bombed. Too bad. I love Emile Hirsch and was hoping this would be a hit for him. I showed my 4 year old son the beginning 8 minutes of the movie (Perez posted it) and he still thought it was great.

Now the word is that the new Indiana Jones movie blows. Even one of the movies stars, John Hurt (who plays Indy's colleague), has said "It's cops-and-robbers stuff." He went on to tell the Times of London. "And it's all to make Mr. Lucas an extra billion, as if he needs it."

Reviewers from Ain't It Cool News are quoted as saying "There was not a single moment that I thought [Indy] . . . was in any sort of peril or even significant inconvenience." A big snake that appears in one scene is "as crappy as a Mad TV prop" and it "looks like the whole jungle was made of plastic." As far as Ford's dialogue goes, "he has a few lines that work and a million that don't."

"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls" opens May 22nd.

It's too bad that Indy doesn't sound great. I actually had high hopes for it!

I want to see it too! Much more than speedracer. I think they did a bad job promoting speedracer, like they assumed that people would want to see it because it's a remake and doesn't need as much marketing. Hopefully the Indy film will do better. I love Harrison Ford and Shia!
