Prince Harry In Trouble Again

Seems like Harry is always getting into trouble for something, doesn't it? And it always seems like he gets into trouble when he's goofing around. I can see that the things Harry said are offensive. And while it doesn't excuse what he said, he was joking around with his friends in what he thought was a private conversation. Goes to show that when you're a prince, there's no such thing as a private conversation when you're in public. Harry needs to learn that.

Britain's Prince Harry was this morning facing a barrage of criticism - after a British tabloid published a video of him using offensive language to describe a Pakistani member of his army platoon.

In the video, obtained by the News of The World, the 24-year-old calls an Asian squaddie "our little Paki friend" and tells another officer cadet jokingly wearing a camouflage veil off duty: "F*** me, you look like a raghead" (an offensive term for an Arab).

The video was filmed in 2006 in front of other cadets at an airport departure lounge as they waited for a flight to Cyprus to go on manoeuvres.

Meanwhile, during a faked call to the Queen, as the Commander in Chief of the British Army, the prince says, "Granny I've got to go, send my love to the Corgis and Grandpa."

He finishes saying: "I've got to go, got to go, bye. God Save You ... yeah, that's great."

Clarence House last night issued an apology for Harry's behavior: "Prince Harry fully understands how offensive this term ["Paki"] can be-and is extremely sorry for any offence his words might cause.

"However, on this occasion three years ago, Prince Harry used the term without any malice and as a nickname about a highly popular member of his platoon.

"There is no question that Prince Harry was in any way seeking to insult his friend.

"Prince Harry is using the term 'raghead' to mean Taliban."

The Ministry of Defense also spoke out against Harry: "Neither the Army nor the Armed Forces tolerates inappropriate behaviour in any shape or form.

"The Army takes all allegations of inappropriate behaviour very seriously and all substantive allegations are investigated.

"We are not aware of any complaint having been made by the individual. Bullying and racism are not endemic in the Armed Forces."

A spokeswoman for the Equality and Human Rights Commission said: "These appear to be disturbing allegations and we will be asking the MoD to see the evidence, share that evidence with us and their plans for dealing with it.

"We will then consider what further action might be necessary."

A spokesman for the Muslim Council of Great Britain said, "It beggars belief that Prince Harry did not realize just how crude and offensive such a remark is.

“The army is looking to recruit from minority communities and this kind of remark will not help the impression that the army is one of the last refuges of prejudice towards minorities."

Tory MP and former army officer Patrick Mercer said, "Whatever the context, this fine young officer has made a serious error of judgment that will cause great offense.

"It is unforgivable."
