OK....Enter me, please! YAY...I love giveaways!!!
I was with a group of g/f's out having drinks in Asheville, NC (lots of movies filmed in our area). My older friend (she's in her 50's) spotted him sitting alone, and was having a fit to speak to him. He didn't look like he was in the mood to be approached, so she didn't. He looked over at us and waved/nodded, so she went over to say hi. He was very nice to her...and I have to say he is much shorter than I though...isn't that normally the case...LOL
Charlotte
OMG...dork me didn't put who it was...LOL
Willem Defoe!
Char
Oooh! Willem Defoe is a good one!
Sadly, my best celeb sighting was George Lopez. LOL... Dirty old man! I'm trying to think of anyone else...besides meeting and talking to Colin Powell when I was 11 and then again when his sister, my 5th grade teacher, passed away a few years ago.
(sorry about the deleted post, I'm blog dumb today.0
WOW Great giveaway!
WOOHOO!
hmmm I'd like to say I've never seen or met anyone famous and probably haven't but as soon as I do I'll remember a half assed somebody. Nothing is coming to me though. I guess I've seen the guy that played Branden Walker on Days of Our Lives.. that's all I can think of and yeah I don't even know is name and am to lazy to look him up.
Nikki..
Pick me, Pick me!! As an RN I have 'seen' a few sports celebs in the hospital (can't mention due to a little rule called HIPPA), my celeb spotting was in NYC. I took my son to MSG for Big East Basketball Championship last year ( I know, what a cool mom!) and while browsing in Tiffany's I bumped into SJP!! She was VERY sweet! I just said "excuse me" and went about my business. I was totally overwhelmed by all the amazing stuff and wasn't watching what I was doing!! So smooth..
On a side note, I just started reading your blog and am addicted.
I too have yet to meet anyone even remotely famous or even come close. Hey I am going to go see NIN twice in November...think I have a shot? lol
When I was in high school they were filming The Firm (back when Tom Cruise was normal) and my friends and I skipped school to hang out at the Peabody so we could see him. They were filming a scene on the rooftop.
Cassandra
Ok, this is lame, but the chick that just won HGTV's Design Star is from KC and I saw her at the vet.
I've also been mistaken for a celebrity. When I was in NY, a lady swore I was Renee Zellweger and kept asking for my autograph. It was in my thin, blond days!
Oh, mine is so sad. I was in Z Gallerie in Pasadena once and Wayne Knight (Newman from Seinfeld) was shopping there too. He was smaller in real life than he seems in person. I also ran into someone who looked a lot like Meryl Streep in a parking garage, but it wasn't her.
I hope that's enough to enter me in the giveaway, lol!
I saw Dr. Drew when he came to Kent State to do a talk like 10 years ago. My roommates and I kind of met him afterwards, in a big line of people who were shaking his hand and getting free condoms, lol.
Then once at a grand opening for a Discount Drug Mart store, I saw Bernie Kosar from across the parking lot. Lame, but I guess Browns fans would care.
Hi,
I read your blog all the time, but I don't think I've ever commented.
Let's see, I met Hal Holbrook back stage after a performance of 'Mark Twain Tonight!' I met Chet Atkins, my Granny grew up w/ him in Mountain Hill, GA, lame I know most of ya'll wouldn't know him, I guess that's it.
Kristie
Michelle, that's funny that she insisted you were Renee Zellweger. Once in Naples, FL some kid came up to us in the hotel parking lot asking for Justin's autograph. He thought he was Tom Green, lol.
Yay! I have a few celeb sightings!
The best is when I was an extra in the movie Fever Pitch. I sat right next to Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon!
Then I was at Fuel concert. I didnt even like the band but I got to meet Brett Scallions and hang out with the band after the show.
I also bumped right into Hulk Hogan in Miami and saw Lenny Kravitz on the beach in front of the Satay.
OH...enter me again ;)
I forgot about Vanna White..LOL
I was in Myrtle Beach 6 or so yrs ago...back in my bangin' beach bod days (LMAO)...and I ran into her in the elevator at our condo. She held the door for me as I was running down the hall to catch the elevator. She was cute as a button, dressed in all pink and she was carrying a clear plastic purse that had 'her' book in it. I was feeling rather 'undressed' as I was standing there in nothing but my bikini. I was looking down at her purse and looked up thinking 'is that who I think it is' and she was smiling at me...LOL She said hi...no mention of 'you're VW' or anything, just hi...then the doors opened for us to get out. I continued to see her the rest of the wk at the pool spending time with her kids. She seemed very nice and down to earth.
Char
Well dang, next to Kristi, I'll suck!
When Spike Lee was in the DC area, filming the Million Man March, he walked past the shoe store I was the manager at. He was like 5 feet from me.
Only football fans will get this one ~ When I was a manager at Kids Foot Locker, Art Monk came to our store to sign autographs so I got to sit with him and talk to him. He was sooooo nice!!!
If I could meet any celeb, it would be LL Cool J and Ellen.
Oh oh! Does it count that I've been in Matthew McConaughey's cousin's house? Ha ha!
My sighting was really a noone to me. At a race in Bristol, TN I stood right next to Jeff Gordon. The funny thing to me was that I was taller than him..LMAO!
Id love to run into (dont crucify me here) Tori Spelling & her hubby Dean. They just seem so fun :)
Not so glamorous, but i saw Richard Riehle (jump to conclusions guy from Office Space) in New York a few years ago. Somehow, that's the only celeb sighting for me, despite living in Seattle.
I don't have a celeb sighting...yet anyway. If I ever do though, I'd love to see Patrick Dempsey!!
OK, Im going w/ My Mom on this one. A looong time ago, my Mom was in NYC on a girlfriends weekend and at 2am on the streets of NY she met Mr Rogers!. Yep I swear. We have pics to prove it. (somewhere is that house of hers) He told her he had just finished filming his show at 2 am. Weird
Mom has also sold homes and had several meetings w/ larry Birkhead over the years.
Other than that, I shook hands and met Metallica once before a show.
I have never seen a famous person but i would love to meet Jack Black.
Oh I'm definately entering myself in this one! An Ipod Nano was going to be my gift to myself when I reached my first 10% on WW. I'm .2 pounds away! lol But can't afford the Ipod now. Anyways, I'm hoping for second place! :) Thanks Nikki!
Oh my I was so excited I didn't read all the way through, lol. I have not had great celeb sightings. Ummm. I saw the woman who played Jackie On Rosanne at Disney World. My other "celeb" sightings are very z-list. Not like I had George Lopez stalking me or anything. I did get to rube Eddie Georges' head when he played for the Buckeyes.
Well, living in Corpus Christi, it is normal to see sightings of Lou Diamond Philips...sitting in a restraunt a few years ago, we sat accross from he and his family...nothing to grand, but I saw someone :)
I've never had a celeb encounter. I'd like to meet Patrick Dempsey too! McDreamy!
Years ago a very polite, redneck man in a cowboy hat pushed past me to the get to a restroom. He said "Excuse me", and because I was young and punk rock at the time, I said " Yeah, excuse you!" (complete with neck circle). All my friends and some strangers came running up to me screaming, "What did you just say to Brad Pitt?"
Brad Pitt! No, you didn't! lol AH!
I got to go to the Shaggy Dog World Premiere and then the after party where I saw Tim Allen and many of the Disney Characters on thats so Raven and some of the Disney shows! My daughter were so excited to be there but we laid low! My daughter did Karoke with some of them.
cpullum(at)yahoo(dot)com
I was an extra in "The Break-Up" so I got to see Jennifer Aniston and Jon Favreau. And I actually met Vince Vaughn, who I just think is so cute. He was very funny and talking to a lot of the extras referring to us as "background actors" because it sounded more professional, haha.
I also saw Sharon Stone and Josh Hartnett speak at my university when John Kerry was running for president in '04.
AND I met Brandy at an autograph signing at Walgreens in 7th grade. I know everyone reading thinks that's pretty much the best one :)
You guys have all met lots of people! Thats awesome! Ive never met anyone...I dont think? I would, however, like to meet Channing tatum...with his shirt off!
Sondra
Many LONG years ago I saw Christopher Reeves shopping for groceries in Rockland Maine! A lot of stars have properties on the coast up here. It was a thrill for sure!
I remember seeing Helen Hunt at our local McDonald's at breakfast time when they were filming a movie in town a few years ago. I am a little biased though when I saw my fave celebrity sighting is Andy Lee of Circle 2 Circle-(metal band with huge following in Europe and South America-www.circle2circle.net) He's my little bro...
Oh fun. In 1984 when everyone was into Saturday night wrestling and the Von Erich family. I was a senior in high school and working at Grandy's Restaurant. One slow Sunday afternoon in walks none other than Kerry Von Erich. I took his order, fixed his plate, and can assure you he wanted for no refills while he was there. I was so in awe.
Ya right seeing a celebrity here is like zil to none since I live in a little town in the middle of no
where ,,,where nothing ever happens~!
(See why I need an iPod lol ) However when I do venture into the city I have happened to run into Stephen King a few times who not only lives in Maine but is one of my favorite author's so I guess that's as good as it gets.
Not a lot of celebs visit cold Montreal but I did see Bruce Willis and his GF at the time (no idea who it was) at the opening of Planet Hollywood. Unfortunately the restaurant closed down within a couple of years... the food sucked.
OOH, I forgot! Nicholas Cage spoke at my sister's graduation from Cal State Fullerton a little more than a few years ago.... He was a total prick.
PICK ME! :)
I've never met any celebrities, but I think I would most like to meet someone like Robert DeNiro or Al Pacino. I love both of them. Or, maybe meeting Oprah would be cool, especially since she could introduce me to tons of different people.
Marietta
(Why didn't my original post show up??)
Anyway...PICK ME!
I have never met a celebrity, but I would love to meet Al Pacino or Robert DeNiro. I like both of them as actors. I would also like to meet Oprah. She could hook me up with so many different people.
The only famous people I have met are some of the Buffalo Sabres. Also my husband used to work for Jim Kelly from the Buffalo Bills and he introduced me to him a couple of times.
I saw both Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock when they were filming the Lakehouse back in Chicago in 2005. I saw Keanu coming out of his trailer on Clark street south of Van Buren. He waved but did not have time to talk. I also saw Sandra Bullock filming a bus crash seen right outside of the Daley Center. She walked right past me on the way to do her scene. I also got in trouble because I wandered on the set:)
I'd love to win.
A couple years ago, I was volunteering at BOSCONE, the New England Sci-fi and fantasy convention in Boston. I was responsible for keeping unauthorized people out of the huckster's room. I turned author Bruce Coville away twice before he convinced me he was the real deal.
Hi Nikki,
This doesn't really count as a celeb sighting (yet!)... but I am in a hotel room in Sacramento all week... next door to Arnold the Governator. Apparently he never bought a house up here and stays in a suite in this hotel whenever he has to be here to run the state of California. I have made friends with his security detail, as they are posted directly outside my door... and I am hoping for a photo before the end of the week!
Julie in Minneapolis
I met Hulk Hogan at Disney about 10 years ago. He was with his family and they all seemed so normal...lol...
I was on Sevendust's bus years back hanging out with Lejon the lead singer after a show. I met Chino the lead singer of the Deftones about 12 years ago.
In Minneapolis I met most of the original cast of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Hodgson was the nicest guy ever and talked to me for way longer than he should have considering the huge line of people that wanted to meet him.
When I was about 8 I met Janet Fielding who played Tegan on Dr. Who in the 1980s. I know these are all nerd celebs but it's all I've got!
I did talk to Steve Guttenburg and Lauren Tom (voice actress) when I worked for a financial company to help with their accounts.
They're all epic. I win.
My only celebrity sighting was Marie Osmond at a Planet Hollywood restaurant. I only got a glimpse of her. Not really fantastic, but I'd love to meet up with Ed Harris some day. Wow-za!
I was @ a night club in Washington, D.C. seeing the group, Da Band (from Diddy's Making the Band {Season 2 episode}). We were standing outside near a trailer and all of a sudden someone rushed by me grabbing my arm to move a couple inches, so he could move through and I turned and it was Choppa City!
Never seen one, but would love to get up close and personel with Nathan Fillion of Firefly and Desperate House Wives. He is yummy!!
I love all of these!! Keep 'em coming!
Embarrassed to admit that I don't know who some of them are!
I have a trend of seeing celeb hairstylists. I saw 80's hair guru Jose Eber in an alleyway in San Francisco and saw "Blow Out" wacko Johnathon Antin at LaGuardia a couple of years ago. Weird, huh?
Nikki!
I was with you for the Johnathon Antin/Blow Out LGA sighting! I too see pretty bad celebrities, my only other sighting was Kevin from the Wonder Years (aka Fred Savage)at a restaurant in NYC!
I am totally going to win this, Nikki.
Meeting the kids from Freaks and Geeks and getting a kiss:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/itsolivia/2208156434/
yes, you cam be jealous. :)
OMG, Olivia - that is AMAZING. I LOVE it.
Katie - remember how he totally ducked and ran when I pointed at him? Like he was a "real" star or something! lmao
You know mine...Justin Timberlake, Ellen & Portia and Rita Wilson all at one place. http://www.nikkibgoss.com/2008/04/real-life-celeb-spottings.html
Hey Nikki,
Um... one time I was walking behind Keanu Reeves and his girlfriend whispered something to him and he yelled out, "Well fuckin' change your underwear then!" Klassy.
But another time I was stoned at Disneyland and was in line for Space Mountain behind COREY FELDMAN. In FULL MICHAEL JACKSON REGALIA. He checked us out and I doubled over laughing, and then had stand there, in line, for 45 more minutes as he practiced his dance moves. AWESOME.
And one time Little Richard bought me lunch. That was just weird.
xo
Karen (from Gloss!)
i used to have oodles of celeb sightings in santa monica, when i worked for a health food co-op.
my best was probably sean penn. his wife, robin wright, used to come in all the time. she was lovely, and her kids were dolls. but sean penn was very grumpy.
omg, I am DYING over the Corey Feldman sighting in full MJ regalia!! LMAO!!!!!!
And Mary, Robin Wright Penn is the woman I would most like to look like in the whole wide world. SUCH a good one. Why's Sean gotta be such a fucking grump?!
Haven't had any celeb sightings but I would love to see Tom Cruise just to see how short he really is,LOL.
Ron Jeremy
Because I continue to meet new and interesting people.
Remember!!
lmao - Ron Jeremy! I TOTALLY remember that, Shayne!
I haven't had any celeb sightings
:(
However, I'm going to the NKOTB concert and maybe, just maybe, I'll get to meet Joey or Jordan! :)
AmandaW
I have never had a celeb sighting but my mom went out on a date with Matt Dillion. She was his date for a movie premiere of the movie Blue Moon. I have always wanted to walk the red carpet! :( If I had a celeb sighting it would have to be Reese Witherspoon who I would absolutely love to meet. :)
I've never had a celeb sighting. There's no way I'll run across somebody in this little town. :(
But if I could....I'd pick Johnny Depp! He's the sweetest looking man on the planet and I heard he's super nice to his fans too.
doot65{at}comcast[dot]net
Elizabeth
Jerry Springer walks by my work all the time. It totally makes my day!
(hi nikki!)
I don't know how much of a "celebrity" they are considered but I met Ivan Koumaev and Travis Wall from So You Think You Can Dance (season 2). It was really cool! They both taught my daughter a dance class (Travis taught a Jazz routine and Ivan a Hip Hop routine) at a dance convention in Phoenix this past year. It was alot of fun!!
The only celeb I've ever seen was Candace Cameron (from Full House) when I was about 8 years old. I only saw her from a distance at a local mall.
Not exactly a sighting, but...
I met Drake Hogestyn and Michael Easton (back when he was on Days of Our Lives, if that tells you how long ago! lol).
They did a Q&A session, then waited to meet and get pictures with every single person that was there, which was cool of them. They wound up staying for an extra two hours to make sure no one was left out.
Oh wow what a great contest. Pick me, pick me.
I saw James Thrash from the Washington Redskins out at a Mexican restaurant near D.C. He came into the restaurant with his family when we were eating and sat a couple of tables away from us. I couldn't have cared less, but my husband was very excited (he is a die hard fan!). During our meal I told my husband - "Don't you dare say anything to him, he's eating with his family. Don't interrupt them". But, of course, he HAD to say something. So, on our way out he said "Good luck this season". I was very embarrassed.
-Mel
Whoa! I would have totally be so excited to see James Thrash! Go Skins!
My only siting recently was Ellen DeGeneres and that was because I went to one of her show's tapings and it was really cool because her guest that day was Jamie Foxx and he is so funny. When the cameras are off, he is still extremely nice and very, very funny
None for me. I'd like to see Brad Pitt or Robert Redford! (I did see George Bush once at a distance in a motorcade at the military airfield here--does that count???)
digicatATsbcglobalDOTnet
Enter me please!! LOL
As for celebrity sightings...I got a to see Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller when they made an appearence on the Today Show and I was one of the people who got up at the crack of dawn to be there.
Okay since Lindsay is in the news...
Several years ago when I was in California we went wine tasting in Temecula. I saw a girl trying to get wine with her girlfriend and being denied. Me being me and convinced this was Lindsay I got her a glass hoping it was my in to meet the star. She took it gave me a snide thanks thereby verifying the ,"not so nice rumors about her 'tude" were all true.
Hi, I would love to be entered into this fabulous giveaway and hoping to win one of the ipods!!!! :) Hmmmm a famous person--well, I've met Rebecca St. James--LOVE HER!! (She's a music artist) I've met her several times and spoken with her and got her autograph and my pic taken with her on several occassions! purposedrivenlife4you (at)gmail (dot)com
Oh, Nikki, I have been wanting to participate, but felt weired, since I can honestly say I have never had any exciting celebrity sightings. Unless you count Micky Mouse at Disney World......
CGSchristine
lmao Christine - totally counts ;-)
I haven't seen many, just Robin Williams in NYC, who smiled as he was strolling by. And also Henry Rollins when I lived in
philly.
I would definitely like to see Natalie Portman.
Ok, being close to the city... I have seen/met a lot. But I will go with the latest.
We went to one of the last few games at Yankee Stadium for a SOX/Yankee Game and Tiger Woods was there.
My favorite by far though is my kiss from Eddie Vedder - I wish I never had to shower! lol
Would love to be entered in the giveaway!!!
When I was a flight attendant in 1992, I had Muhammed Ali, his wife and assistant on my flight. He couldn't speak but I spoke to his wife who was standing with him after the flight. He had an infectious smile, just like a child. I said that I was honored to meet him. He leaned over and kissed me on the cheek. It was so sweet. Something I will never forget.
Ahhhh yes.... I actually shared a coffee and a chat with Dave Matthews while he was shopping at Borders in Bangor Maine. I went over to him and shyly said "Thank you for all your music. It really speaks to me." And as I turned to walk away ... he called me back over and said he would like to know my name. He grabbed both of my hands in his hands and told me it was a pleasure to meet me. I stared into his baby blues and thought I was going to pass out (I had been a huge fan of his since before he was famous), He then asked me where to get a good cup of coffee and I told him I would treat him to one at the Borders Cafe. We then chatted for a while ... until Tim Reynolds walked over and said it was time to go. AWESOME.
That's my story :)
~ Jodi
I saw and met Billy Joel in a bar in Long Island. He was drinking and being a regular guy. He came into the bar alone and talked with some other older men in the bar. I watch (stalked him) for awhile and then finally went up to him. I was so surprised he was so normal.
I worked for Morgan Freeman at the hotel he owns in Clarksdale Mississippi, and I met Brad Pitt once!
