Really?!?! This is the best Sports Illustrated could do?! This is an AWFUL picture of Michael Phelps! I know they wanted to showcase his gold medals - but why cover up his assets?

I agree Nikki; not the best picture that they could have done. I think the pose was the same as Mark Spitz in the 70s, I think, and that's why they did that. But really, I like the picture you posted better :)
Yeah, Amy - that's what Craig thinks, too. It worked for Spitz because he's got a purdy face. lol I think he's still hot!
But Mark Spitz's medals weren't held up by thick ribbons so you could still see some.
I think Mark is much more good looking now than back then.
If he rolls the suit down anothe centimeter you will see the shrinkage of his goodies
