Russell Brand To Host VMA's

If you didn't see Forgetting Sarah Marshall, you might not know who British comedian Russell Brand is. If you DID see it, you're probably as excited as I am that he's hosting MTV's VMA Awards this year! Russell has a bunch of movies coming out over the next few months and take it from me - he's hilarious! If you don't already know him, you will. He's going to be a big star in the US.

Russell Brand is set to host this year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), it has been announced.

The British comedian, best known to American audiences for his role as the rock-star boyfriend in the Judd Apatow-produced comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the Reese Witherspoon-produced fairy tale Penelope, will helm the event, set to air live from Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, on Sept. 7.

He is currently filming the Adam Sandler comedy Bedtime Stories, slated for release later this year.

Previous VMA hosts include Jack Black, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon and Jamie Foxx.

The long-haired funny-man said of his latest assignment, "I've just been invited to do it.

"It'll be good to preside over what is sure to be only vaguely coordinated televised insanity.

"That's how I've made my name in [England]: Flying very much by the seat — and the crotch — of my pants."

Brand, 33, was recently criticized for making a hoax call to the emergency services during a stand-up gig.

As previously announced, the teen pop trio The Jonas Brothers will perform at the anything-can-happen event. Other performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
