Oooh! Menudo in the news! For those of you who don't already know - I was a HUGE Menudo fan in the mid 1980's. I met them a few times even! My ultimate fave was Robby (now Robi Draco Rosa). Soooo dreamy. I also met a then-14 year old Ricky Martin and he totally looked down my shirt! Trying to be "one of the guys," I guess.
Anyway, I watched the entire MTV reality show chronicling the return of Menudo. I liked it ok. I'm not really following these new guys, but it did get me wondering about what happened to the guys who I knew & loved in the 80's. *sigh*
Menudo band member Carlos Olivero was escorted by security off a Delta flight in Atlanta after refusing to put away his iPod, PEOPLE has learned.
The 18-yearold heartthrob, his mother, and his bandmates were on flight 4483 on July 4 as it prepared to leave for Knoxville, Tenn., when Olivero was told to leave the plane, a source says.
"A flight attendant accused Carlos of having an attitude after she asked him to turn off his iPod in preparation for takeoff," the source says. "Carlos complied and turned his iPod off, but the flight attendant then demanded he stow it. Carlos showed her again that the iPod was turned off, but he refused to stow it."
A Delta airlines security team was summoned and escorted him and his mother off the plane, the source says. His bandmates, the Menudo tech crew and management also left the plane, the source says.
The five-member group boarded another flight, but without their tech crew since there weren't enough seats. After they arrived in Knoxville for the Star 102.1 FM Festival, they performed songs from their upcoming album out Sept. 30, including the hit "Lost," in front of 75,000 fans, but the group improvised.
"When they finally took to the stage in Knoxville, they realized some of their borrowed tech equipment didn't operate properly, so they ended up performing a cappella midway through the set."
A rep for Menudo tells PEOPLE, "We can confirm there was an incident on the Delta flight. The members of Menudo are on a plane nearly every day flying from one concert appearance to another so this took us totally by surprise. We've never had a problem before."
A Delta rep wasn't immediately available for comment.

This is so laughable as the Flight Attendant is who had Mr. "Menudo" escorted off the flight. The article makes the kid look good, but in reality, he was blatantly rude to her and actually not in compliance with FAA regulations by not turning off his iPod. He, in fact, did NOT turn his iPod off when he was asked for the seconf time, and refused to stow it. So people should get their facts straight. The kid is a liar and evidently has no manners. Nobody is above anyone else no matter who they are. I don't care how much money they have when it comes to not following directons, or putting other people's lives at risk. Not to mention disrespecting others. What an awful quality for a young man to have. They
This is so laughable as the Flight Attendant who had Mr. "Menudo" escorted off the flight is a friend of mine and explained what happened on the flight...
These comments are laughable. I was there and the kid didn't do anything wrong. The Flight Attendant was rude to several other passengers as well. How easy for people judge that he is young and he must have been rude. Why is it so hard to believe the Flight Attendant could be at fault?
This happened so long ago!(:
This was so stupid, though!
Carlos wouldn't give attitude. I mean, his mom was right next to him.
I find most of these comments so ridicoulous that they are funny! Haha :D
I mean, really. There is two sides to every story.
It's just crazy ! :)
