Sandra Bullock Hit By Drunk Driver

Sandra Bullock and her hubby, Jesse James were hit by a drunk driver. I'm glad they're ok. I'm sure the woman who hit them is REALLY glad they're ok.


Sandra Bullock, who is filming new movie “The Proposal” on Cape Ann, and her husband, Jesse James, were involved in an accident with a drunk driver on Friday night in East Gloucester.

According to Gloucester police, the couple were being driven to their hotel in Eastern Point when a gray Subaru station wagon jumped lanes on East Main Street and smashed into the front end of their rented black SUV.

The Subaru’s driver, Lucille Gatchell, 64, had an alcohol level 2 1/2 times the legal limit, said police.

No injuries were sustained in the collision.

Gloucester police officer Kevin Mackey said Gatchell did not realize who she had struck until she was put under arrest for charges of drunk driving and a marked lane violation.

“After I arrested her I had her in the cruiser. I said, ‘Do you realize who you hit?’ She asked, ‘Who?’ I said, ‘Sandra Bullock’,” Mackey said. “She was almost giggling and laughing. She said, ‘My first drunk driving and I hit Sandra Bullock’.”

Mackey described Sandra’s driver, Mark Hussey, as “distraught” after the accident

“It’s unfortunate,” Lt. Gerry Cook of the Gloucester Police Department added to the Boston Herald newspaper. “But it shows you that no one is immune from drunk drivers, no matter how famous you are.”
