What do you think of these Vanity Fair pics of Miley Cyrus? I don't think it's a flattering picture at all, but I guess I just don't get what's so racy about them.
Another day, another candid-camera controversy for Miley Cyrus.
The Hannah Montana star has issued a statement about her provocative pictures in the new Vanity Fair. Snapped by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, the 15-year-old Disney sensation appears to be topless, covered only in a blanket.
"I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed," she says. "I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.'"
The Disney Channel is also standing up for its beloved starlet, telling E! News "a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."
In its own statement, Vanity Fair defends the shoot.

It's not a good pic at all, and I don't think it's racy either. I think Vanity Fair took advantage of her to sell more magazines. Shame on them.
I don't think it's flattering either. If her parents were there then it's their fault for even putting their daughter in the situation in my opinion! I don't think it's "racy" but I could see where people would think it's inapropriate for a 15 year old. I wouldn't want my 15 year old in pictures like that but I also wouldn't keep my kid from watching her show or listening to her music because of it.
Um I know she is a kid but I kind of feel like she knew what she was getting into and then when the negative press came she played the innocent card.
There were all kinds of people standing there while this was going on, including her parents. I think it's silly now to say "oh poor me" when they knew about the pics way before they were posted. That being said, I'm sure that there were tons of people sitting there saying "oh this will be beautiful. this will be so artistic. etc etc" Either way, I don't think it's that big of a deal.
I think it's too much for a 15 year old girl. Like Marlena said...I wouldn't want my 15 year old in pictures like that! So yes...I guess that makes it "racy".
Poor girl...I hope she stays on the "straight and narrow"!
I don't think they're too risque, but definitely inappropriate for a 15 year old. From what I understand, her parents and some Disney peeps were there. So they all knew about these pics before they were published. In light of that, the parents have no one to blame but themselves really. The minute someone says to me "let's take an artistic shot of your teenager, we're going to need her to remove her top..." we would be out of there. It sounds like they were all fine with the pics until they saw that they were garnering some negative publicity, then it turns into a "poor me, I was duped" situation.
Actually from what I have read in other articles, her parents were NOT present for that particular photo. She did have representation there just not her parents, and they are a little upset by the photo. Also she is not naked under that blanket or topless as they mag. is trying to make it appear. I think she made a bad call in doing this and is truly sorry and upset by it.
The other article I read said her parents and Disney reps were there. Who knows.
Her parents were there; her reps were there. She AND her parents signed off on the pics and now that someone is saying that they are too racy, they are crying foul. I personally don't think that's a flattering picture of her at all; I saw a few of the other shots and they were nice but I don't care for this one at all.
